Assistant Controller The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in managing the financial activities of the company. This role includes overseeing accounting operations, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to financial planning and analysis processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting and a keen attention to detail. Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare and review job cost reports, project budgets, and forecasts. Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance. Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions. Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes. Compliance and Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other financial reporting standards. Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard company assets. Coordinate with external auditors during audits and ensure timely completion of audit schedules. Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making. Assist in cash flow forecasting and management. Team Management and Development: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment. Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge. Special Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as required. Support system implementations and process improvement initiatives. Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting policies and procedures. Qualifications and Skills
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred. Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and job costing. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, Viewpoint) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. High attention to detail and accuracy. Benefits
