Overview
Staff Attorney, Immigration Clinic at USC CERPP (Center for Enrollment Research, Policy and Practice). This is a full-time, 1-year fixed-term position with the possibility of renewal contingent on funding. All candidates must submit a cover letter and resume. Applications are due Friday, October 3, 2025, and will be considered on a rolling basis. The staff attorney will work for the USC Gould Immigration Clinic and handle removal-defense and USCIS cases. The role supports the La Linterna pediatric medical-legal clinic jointly sponsored by the Immigration Clinic, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), and AltaMed. Responsibilities
Handle Immigration Clinic removal defense and USCIS cases. Provide support for the La Linterna pediatric medical-legal clinic, including consultations, brief services, referrals, and direct representation before USCIS and immigration court. Represent clients before USCIS, immigration courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, U.S. District Courts, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Maintain an individual docket of cases and collaborate with other staff attorneys, co-directors, and law students in the Immigration Clinic. Work on matters such as removal defense, asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) applications, and U- visa or other relevant immigration matters. Qualifications
J.D. degree and admission to and active California Bar license. At least 1 year of experience practicing immigration law. Experience representing clients before USCIS and/or the immigration courts. Strong case-management, interviewing, evaluation, writing, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently. Fluency in Spanish. Experience with SIJS applications and with representing clients before the Superior Court (Family Law and/or Probate divisions) is preferred. Compensation and Benefits
