Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Accounting Manager to join our accounting team. The Construction Accounting Manager reports directly to the CFO and will oversee all aspects of accounting and financial management related to our construction projects. This role requires a thorough understanding of construction accounting, project management, and financial reporting. Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger. Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Manage job cost accounting and ensure accurate tracking of project costs, budgets, and forecasts. Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the Board of Directors. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and present findings to senior management. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements. Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure profitability. Manage the month-end and year-end close processes. Implement and maintain accounting systems and software specific to the construction industry (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or similar). Train, mentor, and develop accounting staff to ensure a high-performing and cohesive team. Assist in financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes. Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and financial reporting. Proficiency in construction accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Benefits
