This position supports Mercy’s philosophy of patient-centered care by leading the development, implementation and administration of compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. The Manager, Benefits and Compensation will manage benefit and compensation programs. This position will ensure that compensation and benefit programs remain compliant, competitive and align with Mercy's strategic goals and initiatives. Job Description
Job Duties Benefits
Manage all benefit program policies and procedures to include, but not limited to medical, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending and health savings accounts, life and short/long term disability programs, retirement plans, and workers compensation and leave management. Lead and administer benefits open enrollment, ongoing new employee benefits enrollment and all changes to benefit plans and corresponding employee communication. Develop and oversee review of benefits information, including SPD's, enrollment books, etc., to ensure accuracy and compliance. Develop an innovative and engaging benefits education program that extends beyond the open enrollment period. Ensure all plan documents and Summary Plan Descriptions are updated, and stored for accessibility, ACA and 5500 Filings are filed accurately and in a timely manner, audit benefit deductions, reconcile invoices for all plans. Facilitate accurate and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers. Compensation
Manage the development, implementation and administration of compensation and performance-management programs, including performance evaluations, job descriptions, pay grades, general/market increases and incentive pay programs. Oversee the process for acquiring annual market data by participating in salary and benefit surveys and conducting detailed, competitive research, analyses and modeling to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness of programs. Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommend changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and business needs. Create and deliver communication to educate employees on compensation programs. Benefits and Compensation
Manage the ongoing rewards strategy to support and sustain a high performing culture that attracts, motivates, retains and rewards high quality and diverse talent. Prepare analysis, reports, and presentations in support of benefit and compensation programs. Provide guidance to all employees by answering benefit and compensation-related questions, providing direction or working with vendors to resolve issues. Develop and maintain vendor/partner relationships with all benefit and compensation service providers. Oversee compliance with laws and regulations in the areas of benefits and compensation. Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job- specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proven work experience in relevant benefits, compensation and leadership bringing total rewards programs to attract, develop, and engage the workforce. Comprehensive knowledge of current HR practices for benefits/compensation. Excellent communication skills required, including the ability to interact with tact and diplomacy in both written and verbal communication. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization while establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced spreadsheet capabilities in Excel. Skilled with HRIS/Payroll systems and their functionality. Role model for exemplary customer service skills and creates a welcoming environment for all team members. Experience and knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, including FLSA, ACA, ERISA, COBRA, IRS, Section 125, DOL and all other legal regulatory requirements. Strong project management, analytical, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills, and ability to interpret and communicate data. The ability to both manage and assist with compensation and benefit-related activities. Professional Experience
Five years of increased responsibility in benefits and compensation experiencerequired. Three years supervisory experience required. Education
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field required. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field preferred. Licensure, Certification, Registration
