The IGNITE FSU program within the Office of Research seeks to fill the IGNITE Laboratory Technician position.

IGNITE FSU is an early-stage technology startup incubator program focused on supporting life sciences, engineering, and biotechnology ventures. Located at IGNITE Tallahassee in Innovation Park, IGNITE works with entrepreneurs, researchers, and scientists to spur economic growth in Leon County by providing critical resources such as mentorship, specialized facilities, and education/training to increase the likelihood of success of its client companies. Funded by the NSF Accelerating Research Translation (ART) grant, IGNITE aims to strengthen the translational research infrastructure at FSU and the broader Tallahassee community through the development and coordination of programs that improve entrepreneurial outcomes for science-based ventures.

Responsibilities

The IGNITE Laboratory Technician will support laboratory administrative and operational functions within IGNITE FSU. Under the supervision of the IGNITE Laboratory Manager, the position will gain exposure to laboratory and facilities management, professional services development, client services, and entrepreneur support organizations. This position will also assist with daily laboratory operations, special projects, and other operational tasks that support the purpose and mission of the IGNITE program.

Responsibilities Of The IGNITE Laboratory Technician Includes

Assist in maintaining laboratories for audit readiness, included but not limited to weekly inspections, communicating with clients, equipment maintenance, and maintaining audit and laboratory check list. Prepare, provide and disseminate documentation to lab clients related to IGNITE laboratory spaces, equipment, and other lab amenities, including but not limited to training, troubleshooting, and escalating issues to appropriate IGNITE personnel. Revise, update, and upload laboratory policies and procedures, work instructions, equipment manuals, and other lab-related documents. Support building improvement projects and maintenance of building control and laboratory support systems. Other administrative and operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Current Florida State University student with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must be entering second year undergraduate or higher. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel Professional communication skills (verbal, phone, and email) with a customer service attitude and a strong work ethic. Ability to adhere to standards of professional conduct and etiquette

Preferred Qualifications

Major in scientific or technical discipline such as biology, chemistry, engineering, etc. Experience working in a laboratory setting Aptitude for independent problem-solving Interest or experience in mechanical systems
