Evening (United States of America) Responsibilities

Performs responsibilities of a Medical Technologist. Works independently analyzing blood and body fluids for ordered diagnostic tests in General laboratory, Blood Bank, or Microbiology sections. Results all tests using good lab technique and adheres to established procedures. Performs all routine testing in hematology, manual hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, processing, chemistry, manual chemistry, blood bank and microbiology as requested. Performs all laboratory supplementary tasks for quality control, chemical safety, logs all required activities to track workload, work in progress, pending logs and amended information. Effectively communicates information to appropriate personnel as required by policy and procedure. Participates in shift-to-shift hand-off communication. Acts as a resource to the Pathologists. Resolves issues they require. Fields problem phone calls and resolves issues. Checks the critical logs. Serves as a technical resource to other technicians. Trains technicians in new procedures. Acts as consultants and advisors to other Supervisors. Performs scheduled maintenance on key instruments and maintains up-to-date procedure manuals. Maintains reagent logs and logs new shipment lot numbers. Maintains QC reports; monitors L-J charts and shifts. Orders supplies for the area and maintains inventory to cover two weeks. Provides training for new employees in designated sections/instruments. Documents and completes Performance Improvement Projects. Performs linearity and correlation studies bi-annually for key instruments. Evaluates new tests and procedures changes; performs CAP surveys when assigned. Maintains CAP and The Joint Commission readiness. Blood Bank duties if required, including bench rotation on evenings or nights; runs automated blood bank instruments; performs stat duties as needed; orders and supplies blood products. Completes shift work assignments and complies with WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related science, except for HEW (Required). Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Technologist with 1 year of Blood Bank experience if applicable (Required). Epic and 3M experience (Preferred). Computer/data entry experience; ability to communicate with healthcare team; ability to use Excel and Word. Med Tech ASCP Certification (Required). Med Technologist (AMT) Certification (Required).
