Job Description: Full Time Night Shift - Good Sam Hospital. Critical Care Float Pool. Includes a $5K Sign on Bonus, $8 Hourly Float Incentive, $4 Night Shift Differential, and $6 Night Shift Premium. Overview
This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. The nurse collaborates with physicians and other health care team members in meeting patient needs. May delegate certain aspects of care to individuals under their direct supervision within the scope of nursing practice. Responsibilities
Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patient and family; completes initial assessment tool; documents ongoing assessment per unit guidelines; communicates assessment findings to other health care providers; includes health counseling and health teaching needs in assessment. Plans care for patient and family based on assessment and standards of care; initiates and individualizes plan of care or clinical pathways; updates plan of care as needed based on input and healthcare needs; develops short and long-term goals with patient/family and healthcare team including discharge planning; communicates plan of care to others. Provides a safe, therapeutic environment; maintains patient autonomy, dignity, and rights; seeks resources to inform ethical decisions; balances patient needs with unit/facility needs; recognizes emergencies and takes appropriate action; completes patient assignment and documentation within scheduled timeframes. Bases interventions on clinical data and desired outcomes; trains/educates other staff; serves as an expert resource in specialty areas; communicates information relative to surgical cases; carries out physician orders. Evaluates the plan of care based on patient outcomes; documents patient/family response and teaching; collaborates with patient/family and health care team to revise the plan of care as needed; supervises care delegated to other team members. Performs technical skills according to policy and procedure; safely administers medications/treatments and monitors effects; uses equipment safely and appropriately. Assumes organizational and educational responsibilities; pursues professional development through self-assessment, peer review, continuing education, formal education, professional organization membership, and/or certification; shares knowledge with colleagues and provides constructive feedback; supports continuous improvement changes. Qualifications
Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing (Required) New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire (Required) Up to 1 year clinical nursing experience (Required) Knowledge of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex healthcare needs Preferred: Membership in related professional organization Registered Nurse license (Required) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required) Working Conditions
