BioSpace Position Overview The Post Doctoral Protein Biochemistry Research Scientist will focus on peptide synthesis and oral macrocycle efforts at Protomer. This includes the application of synthetic approaches and display technologies to improve the current business and support generation of new molecules. The position will provide technical and scientific support within a dynamic research and development processes (synthesis and purification) for biomolecules including proteins and peptides. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing experiments to advance process knowledge, process optimization and production technical transfer, as needed. Key Objectives/Deliverables
Understanding the scientific principles required for testing intermediates and drug substances and peptides. Identify and support the implementation of new technologies/methods that offer significant advantages in compound generation and speed. Streamline analytical strategies to reduce the overall testing burden in terms of cost and/or time. Provide support and lead peptide synthesis efforts including novel insulin generation and testing. Ensure the analytical control strategy from raw materials through drug substance is technically sound, cost effective, compliant, and sustainable. Troubleshoot and investigate major analytical issues. Participate in technology transfer as needed. Basic Requirements
Ph.D. in scientific fields of Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related fields. Experience with LC-MS and/or MS/MS instrumentation Additional Skills/Preferences
Peptide synthesis with CEM or AAPPTEC systems or related systems Experience developing protein/peptide analytical chromatographic separations Strong statistical skills Familiarity with GC/MS Strong scientific communication skills Demonstrated record of scientific achievement Demonstrated problem solving abilities Ability to work well independently and collaboratively Understanding of protein, peptide chemistry and/or characterization. This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed term position up to a maximum of 4 years. The anticipated wage for this position is $58,000 - $100,320 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
