Entergy is seeking an IT Consultant – UNIX/Linux with technical expertise to help shape and support our hybrid cloud transformation. As a critical member of our Infrastructure Hosting Team, you will manage on-premise and AWS-based Linux computing environments, maintain solutions that power mission-critical workloads (such as SAP HANA), and ensure operational resilience, performance, compliance, and lifecycle management. The role collaborates with business units, internal IT teams, and strategic partners to support Entergy’s evolution into a modern, agile enterprise while maintaining reliability and security expectations. The role emphasizes automation, cloud integration, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
Implement Linux-based infrastructure solutions for both on-premise and AWS environments. Participate in capacity planning, patching, upgrades, security hardening, and refresh planning. Collaborate with AWS architects to plan and execute cloud migrations for legacy UNIX/Linux workloads. Support the deployment and optimization of enterprise applications such as SAP and SAP HANA on Linux. Maintain physical Linux infrastructure, attached storage, and other components. Enforce enterprise standards for Linux systems in alignment with ITIL practices, NERC/CIP compliance, and security policies. Develop and maintain architecture and operational documentation for infrastructure platforms. Work cross-functionally with PMs, BAs, QA, and cloud teams to align technical solutions with business goals. Maintain Linux, Nutanix, VMware, and hybrid cloud infrastructure. Contribute to shaping Entergy’s digital modernization and infrastructure roadmap. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent technical experience. 6+ years of experience in Linux system administration and infrastructure design. Hands-on knowledge of Nutanix and enterprise storage solutions. Strong experience in hybrid cloud environments, preferably AWS. Proficiency with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible). Familiarity with ITIL practices and infrastructure compliance standards (e.g., NERC/CIP). Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work across business and technical teams. Ability to travel up to 25%. Able to participate in on-call rotations. Preferred Qualifications
RHCSA, RHCE Ansible and Satellite experience AWS Certification (e.g., Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional) ITIL v4 Certification Experience in utility, energy, or regulated industry environments Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools for hybrid infrastructure Why Join Us
