Job Summary The Quality Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving the company’s ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. This role supports continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional collaboration, with a strong emphasis on leveraging digital tools including Epicor ERP and QT9 QMS to drive quality performance and operational excellence. The role also includes document control, quality event management, and audit readiness support.
Responsibilities
Administer and enhance the QT9 Quality Management System, including document control, nonconformance tracking, CAPA, audits, and training modules.
Integrate quality processes with Epicor ERP to ensure traceability, data accuracy, and alignment between production and quality systems.
Lead internal audits and support external audits (ISO, customer, regulatory).
Develop, format, and maintain controlled documents including SOPs, work instructions, forms, and policies to ensure ISO 9001 conformance.
Monitor and report on key quality metrics using data from QT9 and Epicor; identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
Support root cause analysis and CAPA processes.
Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to ensure quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle.
Train personnel on quality system requirements, audit readiness, and use of QT9 and Epicor tools.
Participate in risk management activities including FMEA and control plans.
Support supplier quality assessments and improvement initiatives.
Assist in internal audits of the QMS to verify conformance with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Prepare reports and documentation for external ISO audits.
Recommend improvements to documentation workflows and QMS processes.
Maintain up-to-date training materials related to QMS and document control processes.
Ensure effective communication of quality policies, procedures, and updates to relevant stakeholders.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills And Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related technical field; or a minimum five years of experience with an Associate’s Degree in technical field.
3+ years of experience in quality systems within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and other relevant standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
Hands-on experience with QT9 QMS and Epicor ERP systems.
Proficiency in quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis.
Experience with document control systems and audit processes.
Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain focus on Safety & Environmental requirements in all activities and wear requisite PPE.
ASQ certification (CQE, CQA) is a plus.
Additional Skills And Experience
Familiarity with switchgear or electrical manufacturing processes.
Lean Six Sigma certification or experience.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change.
Experience in integrating QMS and ERP systems for real-time quality data management.
Experience in the manufacturing or electrical power distribution industry.
Knowledge of additional quality standards such as UL or IEEE.
Familiarity with software tools for quality management and document control.
ISO or ASQ Auditing certification.
