The Role
Thornton Tomasetti is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Portland, Maine. The ideal candidate will bring experience in small- to mid-size projects such as cultural buildings, office spaces, healthcare and research facilities, and renovations, ideally within a consulting engineering environment.
The Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing for a wide range of building types and materials in accordance with applicable building codes.
Develop and prepare construction documents within a BIM environment.
Coordinate design work with internal teams as well as external partners, including architects and engineers across multiple disciplines.
Contribute to innovative and sustainable structural solutions that balance performance, constructability, schedule, and budget.
The Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture required; Master’s degree preferred.
Proficiency in industry-standard structural software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, RISA-3D, PCA) and familiarity with BIM platforms such as Revit and AutoCAD preferred.
Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as project needs arise.
