This position provides leadership for agency information security needs within the Dedicated Services, Housing and Community Renewal (HCR) bureau and requires availability during off-shift hours to support security incidents and critical activities that impact sensitive information and ITS operations. Base pay range
$106,898.00/yr - $131,665.00/yr Duties Description
ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time. Responsibilities
Provide security related services and in-depth security consulting to HCR. Manage and implement security compliance programs in accordance with NYS Policies and Standards. Collaborate with organizational resources and the Chief Information Security office to resolve security threats to NYS HCR’s information systems. Work with ITS teams and upper-level agency management to resolve technically complex and politically sensitive issues under pressure. Lead incident response and evaluate systems and contracts to ensure information security is addressed when engaging with third parties. Prepare intelligence-based reports for security incidents affecting HCR. Write SSDLC reviews of business-critical applications as a subject matter expert. Ensure vulnerability scanning targets HCR applications and that findings are remediated in a timely manner. Communicate orally and in writing with management, users, vendors, and other IT staff. Direct staff regarding priorities and performance; perform a full range of supervisory duties. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: Seven years of information technology, cybersecurity, or information assurance experience, including one year at the supervisory level. Substitutions: A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field with 15 credit hours in computer science or related field substitutes for three years of required experience; a bachelor’s substitutes for two years. An associate degree with 15 credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute for one year of required experience. Candidates in a bachelor’s degree program with 15 credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute such credits for one year of required experience. A master’s degree or higher substitutes for one year of required experience. ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. It is the policy of ITS not to hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or to sponsor non-immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or permanent residence. Some positions may require fingerprinting, travel up to 25%, and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. Details will be described further if selected for an interview.
