Overview
Lead Data Engineer/Databricks Engineer (W2 only) – 12 Months. Local only. Pay Rate: $60/hr – $85/hr on W2. Job posted by LeadStack Inc. Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable ELT/ETL pipelines and data transformations using Databricks, Spark, and Synapse. Model high-volume, complex event-level data (digital behavior, Ecommerce transactions, marketing interactions) to enable dashboards, ML models, and marketing analytics. Enforce data governance and lineage tracking using Unity Catalog and Alation. Validate and reconcile data with behavioral datasets such as Adobe Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) and Adobe Analytics. Partner with data architects, analysts, data scientists, and marketing teams to deliver reusable, high-quality datasets that support BI and decision-making. Enhance data ingestion, processing, and orchestration capabilities using Delta Lake optimization, Databricks Workflows, and Synapse. Support and optimize semantic models and data marts for AI/BI dashboards and Power BI self-service analytics. Participate in Agile sprints, including planning, backlog refinement, and technical documentation. Maintain detailed documentation of data assets, transformations, and pipelines to ensure transparency and long-term maintainability. Facilitate clear, continuous communication between business and engineering teams to align priorities and deliver value. Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in Data Engineering or similar roles, with hands-on delivery of cloud-based data solutions. Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate and Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional. Strong expertise in Databricks and Azure Synapse, with real-world experience in Spark-based data processing. Proficiency in modern data architectures (Lakehouse, ELT/ETL pipelines, real-time data processing). Advanced SQL skills for data transformation and performance tuning. Proven track record of modeling and managing large-scale behavioral and Ecommerce datasets. Deep understanding of BI best practices, data enablement, and self-service analytics. Hands-on experience with Unity Catalog and data cataloging tools such as Alation for governance and metadata management. Working knowledge of behavioral analytics tools, including Adobe Analytics and Adobe Customer Journey Analytics. Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical details into business value. Experience operating in agile delivery environments (Jira, Confluence). Demonstrated technical leadership experience as a Lead Engineer. Key Responsibilities
