Overview

The Global Corporate Technology Group designs, deploys, and supports Bloomberg’s enterprise IT systems, including our global corporate network and all hardware, software, and enterprise applications used by nearly 21,000 employees in more than 170 offices worldwide. The team focuses on enterprise solutions, productivity tools, and IT systems integration to move Bloomberg’s businesses forward. Server & Storage Engineering

drives the compute and storage needs for all internal Bloomberg businesses. The team manages the storage infrastructure as well as the physical and virtual server needs for internal businesses including data centers, corporate locations, and remote offices. We engineer infrastructure from an availability, capacity, and security perspective, with KPIs, SLAs, and OLAs across environments. The team designs and deploys multi-site infrastructure using Windows Server operating systems and virtualization technologies such as vSphere and ESXi. We engineer and manage SAN & NAS infrastructure across platforms including EMC Isilon, NetApp FAS and AFF, Pure, and Brocade switches. We also manage various X86 platforms and converged infrastructure such as HP servers and FlexFabric. We maintain the infrastructure with tools including OneView, Grafana, Orion, vCenter, Log Insight, NetApp OCUM, Insight IQ, and Splunk. We collaborate with other internal teams (including Security, Risk, and CTO) to improve, secure, and implement technologies at the server and storage level. Role

As an Infrastructure Automation Engineer on the Compute and Storage Engineering team, you will be encouraged to automate the provisioning, deployment, scaling, and monitoring of our compute & storage infrastructure platforms. You will be responsible for implementing innovative technologies, automating workflows, and crafting CI/CD automation pipelines. In this role, you will collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers, Developers, and Operations to identify opportunities to improve automation and deployment solutions for the corporate infrastructure environment. Responsibilities

Automate provisioning, deployment, scaling, and monitoring of compute and storage infrastructure. Implement innovative technologies, automate workflows, and build CI/CD automation pipelines. Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers, Developers, and Operations to improve automation and deployment solutions. Requirements

4 years of experience with Python, PowerShell, and/or other scripting languages A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field of study, or equivalent work experience Experience building tools that automate and integrate with API REST and traditional IT infrastructure components (virtualization, server, storage) A strong familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Kubernetes, etc.) Experience with DevOps methodologies and IaC automation tools such as Terraform or Puppet Experience with orchestration technologies such as Ansible or Chef Experience driving the full software creation process Nice to Have

Understanding of Linux internals Knowledge of network protocols, administration, and security Relational databases experience Experience with GIT or other code repositories Knowledge of storage protocols, storage administration, and storage security Understanding of security fundamentals and standard methodologies Experience implementing or working with server virtualization and storage infrastructure Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently Salary and Benefits
