Project-Based PACS Project Manager / Software Engineer (Contract)

Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of the PACS development and deployment project Manage project scope, timeline, deliverables, and vendor relationships Collaborate closely with leadership, radiologists, and IT to understand workflow needs and translate them into technical solutions Architect, build, or integrate a PACS system (including DICOM handling, secure image storage, worklist management, etc.) Ensure HIPAA compliance and data security standards throughout the project Develop or oversee the development of APIs for system interoperability (RIS, Worklist, HL7 integration, etc.) Provide guidance on potential AI/ML imaging features, including data structuring for future model training (if applicable) Conduct testing, validation, and documentation for system reliability and compliance Offer post-deployment support during the stabilization phase Qualifications
Proven experience managing healthcare IT projects, especially PACS/RIS systems Strong understanding of DICOM standards, HL7 integration, and medical imaging workflows Hands-on software engineering skills (Python, Java, C#, or similar) with the ability to either develop or oversee development Familiarity with PACS solutions (commercial and open-source such as Orthanc, DCM4CHE, etc.) Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) Bonus: Exposure to medical image AI workflows (e.g., dataset curation, labeling, AI pipeline integration) Working knowledge of HIPAA, data privacy, and security requirements in healthcare IT Strong communication skills with the ability to interface between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders Visit our website at www.excaliburmed.com
