Overview
AtkinsRéalis is seeking an ITS/Traffic Engineer to join our NC ITS/Traffic Team. This is an entry-level position and is based out of Raleigh, NC.
AtkinsRéalis is a global design, engineering and project management consultancy providing infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, urban planning, architecture and program management services for public and private clients across the United States for more than 50 years.
Responsibilities
Design and develop plans and drawings related to ITS and Traffic design, including traffic signal design, fiber optic communications routing and splicing, utility coordination, signing and striping, traffic safety studies, and more.
Organize and conduct ITS and Traffic engineering investigations, planning, and analysis with a well-defined scope.
Outline and prepare straightforward technical reports under periodic review by a more experienced professional.
Research feasible design approaches, site conditions, regulatory specifications, industry best practices, state of the practice, and emerging technologies.
Contribute to the development of specifications and permit applications; write miscellaneous reports; prepare preliminary man-hour, cost and material quantity estimates.
Participate in quality control checks and maintain quality standards in all work; review computations, reports, designs, and drawings developed by others.
Coordinate with other disciplines as required; perform field observations of construction where appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college/university.
EDUCATION: Minimal experience is required of incumbents with a Bachelor's Degree in a branch of Engineering related to the hiring discipline; no experience required with a Master's degree.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Basic computer skills to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (preferred).
Proficient interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to develop technical writings and reports.
