Interviews: Thursday and Friday at the New York office
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Traffic Engineer to be based in New York, New York. This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.
Responsibilities
Perform analytical tasks including traffic data collection and data manipulation.
Perform traffic and capacity analysis on roadway networks.
Perform traffic analysis on roadway networks using transportation planning/engineering software (HCS, Synchro, simulation, etc.).
Prepare written documentation of NEPA/SEQRA/CEQRA Transportation results in support of client projects.
Prepare written reports and presentations of project findings that support moving projects from concept/preliminary alternatives into design, or document operational enhancements.
Build analytic and design skills.
Conduct planning analysis and engineering conceptual design under the supervision of an experienced traffic engineer.
Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under supervision.
Collects and analyzes data under supervision.
Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering preferred.
FE Certification desired.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License preferred to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices when public transportation is not available.

This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in New York, NY. The selected candidate must be available to work in New York, NY on a scheduled basis.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $75,000.00 - $95,000.00.
