Summary Seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Cash Applications Specialist to join our Finance team. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and timely application of client payments, supporting the firm’s billing and collections processes, and maintaining the integrity of financial records. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of legal billing systems, exceptional analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Responsibilities Accurately apply incoming payments (checks, wires, ACH, credit cards) to client accounts and invoices using the firm’s financial systems (e.g., Elite 3E, Aderant). Research and resolve unapplied or misapplied payments in coordination with billing attorneys, clients, and the collections team. Monitor and reconcile client trust account transactions in compliance with legal and ethical standards. Collaborate with the billing and collections teams to ensure alignment on client account status and payment allocations. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all cash applications are up to date and properly documented. Identify process improvement opportunities and support the implementation of best practices in cash application workflows. Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior team members. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of cash application experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment. Proficiency in billing software (e.g. Aderant, Elite, or similar) and e-billing platforms. Understanding of legal billing procedures, fee arrangements, and client guidelines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
