Job title: Parent Support Specialist 6540 at Community Health Resources in Norwich, CT. Employment type: Full-Time, 40 hours/week. Schedule: Monday-Friday, day shift (two evenings possible until 8pm). Program/Location: Parenting Support Services Norwich, CT – community-based. PC#: 2210. About the Program

PSS provides 8-10 sessions in-home with an evidence-based curriculum. It involves a thorough assessment of parent-child interactions, the application of intervention skills to a broad range of child/teen target behaviors, and the use of relationship enhancement strategies to promote parental autonomy. Most parents completing the program significantly reduce their use of corporal punishment and other coercive parenting strategies, while building a more positive relationship with their child. Responsibilities

Autonomy and team collaboration in day-to-day work. Team meetings and weekly supervision focused on collaboration and professional growth. Some schedule flexibility based on client availability. Connect with clients in the community at their home or other settings; every day is a new experience. Opportunity to facilitate parenting groups as well as individual sessions. Mileage reimbursement. Build relationships with clients that have a lasting impact. Caseload of about 10 families; average length of service per family up to 4 months. Complete PSS initial assessment within the first 2 visits and other model specific assessments per requirements. Provide Level 4 Standard Triple P and Level 4 Teen Triple P curriculum interventions per model fidelity lasting 10-16 sessions of 1-2 hours per session. Provide Circle of Security Parenting intervention lasting 10-16 sessions of 1-2 hours per session or, if provided as a group, 8-10 sessions. Provide case management services consistent with the Wraparound philosophy by assisting the family with identifying and prioritizing needs, navigating and using community resources, creating a family budget, linking to services, and coordinating transportation. Provide crisis planning to anticipate potential crisis situations and assistance. Collaborate with the DCF worker by maintaining frequent contact for open DCF cases regarding the family’s progress. Attend Permanency Team meetings for in-home or out-of-home cases. Participate in supervision and peer support meetings as required by the model. Work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of caregivers, including evenings and weekend hours as needed. Demonstrate competency in age-related or specialty issues and developmental needs for populations served. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education: BA in human services or related field preferred. A bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field preferred. Candidates with an associate’s degree plus two years’ experience in a related field or a High School diploma with four years’ related experience may be considered with an approved waiver from the funder. Experience: Direct experience working with children and families. Preference given to individuals who have done home-based work with families. Licensure/Certification/Registration: None Training: Preference for candidates trained in Triple P and/or Circle of Security Why Join CHR

$20.00/hr minimum, with increases based on experience and internal equity. Some roles may include program/location differentials or sign-on incentives.
