As a Journeyman Wireless Engineer, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, and support of wireless network systems. This mid-level role helps design and deploy wireless LAN (WLAN) infrastructure, conduct site surveys, and troubleshoot RF coverage and performance issues. This position ensures wireless systems comply with DoD cybersecurity standards, frequency coordination requirements, and performance specifications. The position will be located at Buckley SFB and is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X.

Responsibilities

Assists in implementation of architectural vision for all Wi-Fi access points and control-related services across BAN.

Understands requirements; aids in optimal Wi-Fi designs for spectrum usage and device placement.

Follows standards for all designs and implementations.

Installs, configures, and maintains wireless network equipment, network management, and security, including 802.11 b/g/n/ac standards and best practices for high-density Wi-Fi solutions.

Plans, deploys, and improves wireless networks with stakeholders and vendors.

Works with Lead Wireless Engineer or Engineering Manager with minimal direction.

Manages firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Juniper, Cisco ASA) and uses tools to evaluate and tweak wireless products (routers, switches, hubs, bridges, VPNs, network amplifiers).

Designs and validates RF link performance and reliability; implements WLANs and other wireless networks.

Writes manuals and documents current network procedures; uses routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).

Utilizes enterprise monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Splunk) and optimizes network performance in coordination with other engineers.

Develops and implements policies to protect network systems and oversees access controls.

Ensures all equipment is properly connected; supports RF link performance and backup/retrieval mechanisms.

Collaborates with teams to optimize VoIP and other wireless telecommunications devices; works with security to evaluate threats and ensure security configurations.

Implements changes per change management processes and performs testing and diagnostics on equipment.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications: Technical BA/BS or a High School Diploma/Associate Degree; CWS or CCNA or equivalent; CompTIA Security+.

Experience / Skills: 5 years with BA/BS or minimum 7 years as a Wireless Engineer on large, complex networks with HS/Associate degree.

Clearance: Active DoD Secret (Tier 3) level clearance required.

Skills: Proficient in wireless system technologies; strong understanding of network protocols and infrastructure.

Additional Information

Material & Equipment: Proficient with MS Project Suite; basic AutoCAD knowledge.

Working Environment: Office with potential to support austere locations.

Physical Activities: Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
