Overview
HDR's Water Business Group is seeking a Flood Risk Analysis Section Leader to join our growing team in Northern California. Flood risk analysis is a key business line at HDR, focusing on hydrologic, hydraulic, consequence, and planning aspects of dams, levees, and other civil works projects. The role supports the ongoing need to assess current infrastructure and evaluate future infrastructure requirements. This position helps build a new section dedicated to flood risk analysis and integrates hazard information with its consequences on exposed property, lives, and the environment.
Responsibilities
Take responsibility for operations of the production section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support
Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities
Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections
Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews
Work with project teams to identify resource needs on projects
Be directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production and related issues
Plan, organize, control and evaluate work through proactive project management systems
Implement, monitor and support company policy
Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel
Manage and develop multidiscipline teams
Collaborate with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts
Work with other water resources program leads to acquire new clients and increase work from existing clients
Coordinate with other section leads to manage workloads and administrative responsibilities, including policy implementation
Provide leadership, mentorship and administrative support for assigned staff
Build technical expertise and production capacity through recruitment and training
Support issue resolution on projects, within teams, with clients and within the organization
Engage in strategic planning and goal setting
Promote HDR through industry involvement (presentations and publications)
Keep current with industry developments
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
A minimum of 10 years of experience
Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
Strong communication and listening skills
Ability to handle multiple assignments
Good leadership and organizational skills
Active participation in our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
MS in engineering in water resources
Experience with USACE flood and consequence analysis tools such as HEC-FDA, FIA, LifeSim
Experience working with Federal, state, and local agencies
Experience with multi-benefit projects and standardized planning frameworks
Experience in technology transfer and technical writing
