Hiring Range $65,000 - $70,000
Position Overview Located at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Cherokee Nation, Tahlequah, OK, the Student Counselor is responsible for providing a wide array of counseling services to students and residents, including individual, group, marital/couples formats, and educational programming. The role involves building community relations, implementing therapy programs, and reporting on student engagement.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Provide personal counseling services, including crisis intervention, psychotherapeutic, situational, relational, and developmental counseling.
Implement evidence-based therapy programs and services.
Create and participate in educational programming to enhance resilience and mental health.
Utilize technology for off-site students and trainees.
Build community relations and establish referral platforms.
Provide statistical reports on student engagement to the Assistant Dean of Student Life.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, or a related mental health field (degree conferred by start date).
Minimum of 2 years of counseling or mental health experience.
Experience facilitating individual counseling.
Licensed or license-eligible as a professional counselor, social worker, or marriage and family therapist.
Preferred Skills
Experience developing and presenting behavioral health classes and workshops.
Background working with college populations.
Ability to empathize with diverse clients.
