Responsibilities
The Critical Power Group is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting UPS systems, batteries, and other critical infrastructure equipment. Our technicians are factory trained on major UPS manufacturers (e.g., MGE/APC, Liebert, Toshiba/Mitsubishi, Powerware/Eaton). Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, equipment testing, emergency service calls at high-profile government, institutional, and commercial facilities, and providing engineering and technical support.
Daily travel with independent work structure
Emergency call availability 24/7 unless on PTO or Off Call
Maintain safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments
Installation and repair of static switch and PDU systems
Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled
Customer contact and interface
Communicate availability to the corporate office and team lead
Protect company proprietary information
Use of electronic and electrical test equipment
Coordinate and manage subcontractors
Maintain company or personal vehicle in safe condition
Ensure work quality per M.C. Dean standards
Complete all required paperwork timely and accurately
Provide technical support to customers
Maintain technical documentation
Attend product-specific training as necessary
Cross-train others as needed
Other Duties As Required
Inspect static switch systems and associated controls, including maintenance, failure analysis, and repairs
Certify systems and components adhere to quality standards
Review and check system drawings and specifications for accuracy
Provide technical assistance and perform inspections and maintenance
Advise site personnel on maintenance practices
Resolve technical problems and prepare reports
Meet physical demands, including lifting batteries and working at heights
Maintain operational expertise with various test instruments
Availability 24/7 when on call, with potential overnight travel
Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Controls
Work under general supervision, with freedom of action within policies and procedures
Perform inspections and certification of power electronics to ensure reliability and quality
Qualifications
AA/BS in Electrical/Electronics or equivalent training
At least 1 year of experience with UPS systems, batteries, electrical apparatus, and associated equipment
Candidate Expectations
Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams
Knowledge of NEC, maintenance, and quality control procedures
Diagnose malfunctions using testing and inspection techniques
Proficiency with laptops, software, and communication devices
Strong written and oral communication skills
Future training/certifications: Manufacturer Maintenance Courses
Proficient in Microsoft Office
