This is a full-time, clinical-track Assistant Professor position in the School of Health Science at Aurora University, beginning Fall 2026. The appointment is nine months with potential for a summer appointment contingent on need and funding.

Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr

Position purpose The School of Health Science invites applications for a full-time, clinical-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science. The candidate will contribute to the Exercise Science program by providing outstanding classroom and experiential learning opportunities to develop competent clinicians. The role requires experience and knowledge in clinical exercise physiology and running a clinical exercise physiology lab.

Essential Job Functions

Teach undergraduate courses spanning the Clinical Exercise Physiology emphases within the Exercise Science major.

Engage in research and service projects that strengthen the university community.

Collaborate effectively in a departmental environment and provide service to the university.

Mentor and supervise students and operate specialized equipment in an exercise physiology lab.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Faculty typically teach three courses per term and have opportunities for service and professional growth and development.

Essential Job Requirements Education:

Earned master’s degree in Exercise Science or an equivalent field by appointment date. Doctorally prepared candidates are preferred; ABD candidates will be considered. Current certifications at the level of Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM) and/or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) or higher are preferred.

Experience:

Industry and teaching experience are preferred. Demonstrated experience working in an exercise physiology lab.

Skills:

Commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment; effective written, oral communication, and presentation skills; commitment to staying current in the field; mentoring undergraduate students.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to interact with individuals in person or via technology; ability to be physically present in class and during office hours; ability to lift laboratory equipment and demonstrate physical activities.
