Inside Higher Ed A full-time Post Doctoral Fellow staff position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Dorothy Supp in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Hand/Burn Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Job Overview Dr. Supp is seeking a talented and highly self-motivated individual to join her research team to study skin tissue engineering and wound healing. Essential Functions
Conduct research experiments within the predetermined research scope and methodology. Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research. Perform small animal skin grafting surgeries and collect samples/analyze study endpoints. Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research results. Participate in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations; may assist in grant writing. Keep informed of developments in the field to maintain and enhance professional expertise. Assist with lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed. Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities. Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and other faculty members. Perform related duties based on laboratory and departmental needs. Contribute to a safe and compliant work environment. Required Education Doctoral Degree in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, biomedical engineering, or similar field. Required Experience Previous experience in cell biology (including cell culture), molecular biology, and/or biomedical engineering. Additional Qualifications Considered
Excellent communication skills (written and oral). Prior research experience and publications in cell/molecular biology and/or biomedical engineering. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to apply innovative experimental strategies to address relevant biological problems. Ability to troubleshoot and overcome challenges; willingness to admit mistakes. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and maintain open communication with collaborators. Prior experience with genome editing, vector construction, iPSC culture, primary human cell culture, small animal surgery, and/or tissue engineering. Experience with human subjects’ research.
