Overview

GAI Consultants is seeking an Environmental Compliance Assistant Manager with experience in environmental compliance support to work within the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Business Sector within our Power & Energy Business Unit. This position will require technical analysis and writing skills, some project management skills as well as some necessary travel to various project sites regional to the Midwestern and Mid-Atlantic Regions. Applicants should enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment. This position will afford an excellent opportunity for the individual to expand their experience and knowledge base in federal and state environmental regulations and methodologies primarily in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia. The successful candidate will serve as an assistant manager to perform, with minimal supervision, various assignments including, but not limited to those listed below. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assisting with the management and technical oversight of various environmental engineering and compliance projects and tasks for the CEE Environmental Engineering and Compliance Division including Preparation of permit applications (earth disturbance permit applications, air compliance permits, etc.) Sound and Noise Studies Spill Response Plans (Including Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure [SPCC] Plans) and secondary containment services associated with SPCC Environmental Monitoring and Oversight (including Erosion and Sedimentation Control [E&S] field compliance and Sound Monitoring) E&S Plans, Stormwater Management Plans, and Permit National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System [NPDES] coordination and termination assistance Phase I and II ESAs and hazardous waste due diligence investigations on various site types (rural, agricultural, residential, commercial, industrial) Researching and understanding applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations (e.g., CAA and SPCC regulations, CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, EPCRA, VCP) Supervising staff performing field monitoring of erosion and sediment controls on construction projects Reviewing specifications, permits, and permit conditions as well as E&S control and stormwater plans for site and linear construction projects Preparing and/or reviewing periodic monitoring reports Adhering to Health and Safety requirements of GAI Consultants and clients Maintaining QA/QC standards and adhering to the Quality Management System procedures Qualifications

Required

Ability to assist with managing and/or leading field studies and data collection; generate well written, technically sound documents with minimal supervision; conduct agency interface and data analysis; research applicable environmental regulations; apply them to project specifics Environmental compliance writing sample may be requested Excellent written and verbal communication skills and technical writing ability Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related field Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office applications; familiarity with report, database, and form completion Ability to manage employees and act as an assistant manager on environmental compliance projects Understanding of regulations and proposed regulation changes and agency protocols Knowledge of NPDES regulations and permitting; familiarity with E&S control guidelines and BMP designs Valid driver\'s license and ability to pass screening to drive a GAI vehicle Flexibility and willingness to travel regionally Preferred

Experience with GPS data collection Experience with spill response planning and Oil Pollution Prevention Act (40 CFR 112) 1–2 years of experience with air pollution, compliance, and permitting support Knowledge of sound studies, Phase I/II ESA, and hazardous waste diligence Experience in environmental field monitoring and E&S control monitoring Understanding of BMP concepts, designs, and maintenance Experience with SWPPP, NPDES permit applications, and Erosion and Sediment Control Plans Experience with waste management and associated responsibilities Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or GIS (ArcGIS) Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training Certifications: Qualified Environmental Inspector (PA), Responsible Person for Erosion and Sediment Control (MD), CESSWI, CPESC, VA EIS, VA Stormwater Inspector Trainings: ASTM Phase I ESA, RCRA, OSHA Physical Demands

Ability to walk moderate distances in varied terrain Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to hear and identify potential hazards during fieldwork Drug screening may be required for new hires General Characteristics

Minimum 10+ years of related experience Bachelor\'s Degree in Environmental Sciences or similar field Technical Responsibilities
