Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies , starting September 1, 2026. The candidate is expected to establish an externally funded research program that will complement the collaborative, interdisciplinary environment at the College and provide research opportunities for undergraduate students. We are seeking a candidate with teaching experience and research in any area of environmental science and ecology. Areas of expertise may include but are not limited to quantitative ecology, plant sciences, earth sciences, natural resource management, and urban ecology. Qualifications Ph.D. degree in Environmental Studies/Ecology/Biology or a closely related field is required by September 1, 2026 when the appointment begins. We welcome applicants whose expertise complements or extends the research programs available in the department. Competitive applicants will have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications in their field, promise of teaching excellence, and a commitment to mentoring undergraduate researchers. Compensation $91,922 - $105,593; commensurate with qualifications and experience and are subject to the Professional Staff Congress-CUNY salary schedule. CUNY is implementing salary schedule increases with expected adjustments of 3.25% (9/1/2025) and 3.5% (9/1/2026) per the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement. CUNY offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
