KIPP Public Schools Northern California is seeking an Instructional Aide/After School Instructor - Elementary School (25-26). Responsibilities
Under the direction of the School Leader or other certificated employee, assist by performing a variety of instructional support duties to individuals or small groups of students within the special education setting or regular classroom, during and after school hours. Duties shall complement the instructional program to maximize learning opportunities for inclusion students. Assist in establishing and implementing appropriate classroom and school-wide behavior and perform routine clerical tasks as assigned. Work directly with a group of 60-80 elementary school students, providing homework assistance, academic support, and enrichment activities after school on site at KIPP Bayview Elementary. Establish authority through leadership, communication, and patience. Commit to working throughout the entire school year. Note: The role is paid over a 12-month period, including scheduled school breaks and summer break. Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years in a youth development organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience. Required Education/Certifications: CPR/First Aid Certification. Title I paraprofessionals whose duties include instructional support must have either a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following: A.A. degree or B.A. degree (or minimum 48 units in process) or pass the ETS ParaPro Assessment (passing score 460) or pass the CBEST exams. Knowledge/Skills: Strong communication skills (oral and written); ability to work effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds; demonstrated ability to work with young people, parents, and community leaders; proficient knowledge of Google Suite applications (Google Classroom, Hangouts, Docs, Sheets, Slides); uncompromising integrity and commitment to KIPP NC. Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Implement after school activities within core program areas, including academic assistance, homework club, fitness/recreation, arts, and enrichment activities. Document program schedules, lesson plans, curriculum, youth participation, and outcomes. Use positive behavior and classroom management techniques with children. Accurately track student attendance daily. Assist with after school program registration, customer service, and community outreach. Maintain high standards of health and safety for students and staff. Participate in all after school activities including setup, cleanup, and facility maintenance. Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, school personnel, and community partners. Under Lead Teacher direction, tutor and reinforce learning activities in core academic areas, including small groups or one-to-one. Help create and maintain a clean, safe, and cooperative classroom and learning environment. Prepare and set up instructional materials and equipment; maintain materials and equipment. Assist in curriculum modifications for students and provide testing accommodations as needed. Review and correct student work; support behavioral intervention plans and positive reinforcement strategies. Foster positive social interactions and relationships between students with disabilities and non-disabled peers. Model appropriate behavior and provide emotional support and guidance. Support students in active participation on field trips and school assemblies or productions. Assist students in community-based life skills activities as directed by the Education Specialist. Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Compensation and Schedule
This is a full-time, non-exempt position based on a school year calendar; salary range is $20.92 - $24.84 per hour. This rate includes additional pay for 60 days of school break, resulting in annualized pay higher than district peers. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and transportation.
