Assistant Professor of English Instruction, Composition and Creative Writing
Overview
The Department of English at Hope College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of English Instruction to begin in the Academic Year 2026-2027. This is a renewable, full-time (.75-1.0 FTE) position.
Responsibilities
Teach first-year writing and multi-genre introductory creative writing.
Achieve a teaching load of four, three-credit courses per semester (24 workload hours per year).
Provide academic advising and support students in a thriving program.
Participate in faculty governance within and outside the department.
Qualifications
PhD or MFA in creative writing (open genre) with substantial teaching experience in first-year writing.
Evidence of outstanding college-level teaching and adequate creative writing publication.
