Bridge Project Engineer

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Be an integral part of our dynamic and growing Midwest Bridge Group, collaborating with professionals across Kansas City, Wichita, Omaha, and St. Louis. Deliver technically excellent solutions to complex bridge and transportation challenges. Lead in delivering projects through all phases of development from technical design and project planning to quality control, client engagement, and team mentorship. Perform and oversee bridge design and analysis, manage scope and schedules, ensure deliverable integrity, strengthen client relationships, and foster growth. Perform structural bridge design and load rating for structures including prestressed concrete and steel girder bridges, retaining walls, and sign support structures. Provide technical support during construction and field activities such as site assessments, inspections, and data collection. Coordinate and manage design tasks across technical disciplines. Ensure delivery within scope, budget, and schedule with proactive communication with clients, subconsultants, and internal teams. Prepare and review design calculations, plans, estimates, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with the firm’s Quality Management Plan. Participate in quality control/assurance on deliverables. Support proposal development, participate in client meetings, contribute to marketing efforts, and lead technical presentations when applicable. Maintain strong client relationships. Mentor junior engineers through knowledge sharing and collaboration. Stay current on industry standards and best practices through continuing education and professional involvement. Education | Experience What You’ll Bring To Our Firm Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required Professional Engineer (P.E.) license Minimum of 8 years' professional experience in structural design and/or project management for transportation-focused projects Familiarity with Midwest DOT standards and/or Class I railroad bridge requirements Strong command of structural engineering principles for bridge and structural design; experience with steel and prestressed concrete bridge systems Proficient in MicroStation (including ORD/OBM), and structural analysis/design tools. Comfortable with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Suite Physically capable of performing field work, including inspections and data collection Valid driver’s license and adherence to safety protocols Strong verbal and written communication skills; thrives in a team environment Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver projects with an understanding of impacts on schedule, budget, and scope What We Prefer You Bring Master’s Degree with a civil/structural focus (strongly preferred) Experience working with Midwest DOTs and/or Class I railroads Experience with design/build project delivery Experience with AASHTO LRFD and/or AREMA Experience with bridge design software such as CSi Bridge, LARSA, LEAP Bridge, AASHTOWare BrR/BrD, and FB Multipier NHI 2-Week course – Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridge Compensation The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $135,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
