The Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking to recruit a dynamic leader to expand the clinical and research programs within the Epilepsy Section. Appointment for the Epilepsy Section Director will be at the level of Associate or Full Professor depending on qualifications. The Epilepsy Section Director position presents an opportunity to grow the epilepsy program, foster a culture of excellence, and enhance national recognition. The duties will include clinical, teaching, research, and service responsibilities. The overall determination of research and clinical activities and allocation of time will be subject to the Department Chair. Specific duties may include: Clinical duties involving outpatient clinics, continuous EEG monitoring, and attending in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU); supervision of medical students, residents, and some fellows; supervision of patient procedures; teaching house-staff and students. Teaching activities including neurology services, leading teaching conferences, and training medical students, residents, and fellows. Active research leadership in clinical or basic epilepsy research; mentoring and developing the section's research activities and personnel. Administrative responsibilities: data entry into hospital systems, development of critical pathways, committee work and projects to improve the department’s mission; non-clinical time aimed at scholarship; attendance at department and specialty program meetings and educational events; other duties as needed. Duties of the Epilepsy Section Director/Section Chief include executive/administrative decisions for the Epilepsy Section; collaboration with Department Chair and UCHealth leadership to guide growth; mentoring epilepsy faculty (especially junior faculty); developing and executing strategic plans; recruiting and expanding the epilepsy section in Metro Denver and the Rocky Mountain region. The Epilepsy Section currently includes 11 Epileptologists, 7 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and 1 ACGME-accredited Fellow, and operates multiple outpatient clinics, an EMU, and an epilepsy surgery program in collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery. The section has an ACGME accredited epilepsy fellowship (up to 2 fellows per year) and contributes to resident and medical student education. Minimum Qualifications This is an open rank position and can be categorized as either Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications. Academic rank will be determined during the interview process. Associate Professor MD Board Certified in Neurology Colorado medical license and DEA license obtained on or before hire date Fellowship training in Epilepsy or neurophysiology Scholarly/academic record consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor level Professor MD Board Certified in Neurology Colorado medical license and DEA license obtained on or before hire date Fellowship training in Epilepsy or neurophysiology Scholarly/academic record consistent with appointment at the Professor level Preferred Qualifications Record of previous or current research activity and funding is highly desirable Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills Positive, motivated, engaged, and caring attitude Outstanding clinical skills in Neurology and Epilepsy Professional collaboration with colleagues and patients Commitment to professional development, teaching, education, and mentoring Adaptability, flexibility, and creativity Scholarly writing skills and grant application experience How to Apply

Anticipated Pay Range:

Associate Professor: $200,000 – $260,000; Professor: $250,000 – $300,000. Salary offers include total compensation considerations; overtime eligibility applies as applicable.
