We are looking for a

Food Scientist 1

at 2183 SE Hawthorne Rd, Gainesville, FL 32641. Your mission will be to: Perform physical testing procedures to identify the specified physical characteristics of samples according to client requests and specifications. This includes reviewing existing client-specific evaluation methods and suggesting modifications to improve them. Ensure all methodology is implemented and tested in compliance with quality, safety, and other standards. Assist in creating work instructions, data capture sheets, and review data for accuracy. Communicate testing concerns with Supervisors or Technical Support, and liaise with local and regional customer care, including providing TAT updates. Provide results and additional information within the established timeframes, and inform Leadership of any late or out-of-spec results. Perform testing, record data in LIMS, review data accuracy, and produce reports for clients. Read, calculate, and record analysis data to produce LIMS-generated reports. Correct discrepancies and document calculations performed outside of LIMS following Good Laboratory Practices. Receive, log, and review samples, assign identification numbers, and enter information into LIMS. Prepare documentation as necessary. Contact customers or off-site leadership to clarify missing or unclear information, ensuring accurate identification of client and sample details. Store samples properly until analysis is complete, maintain sample integrity, and dispose of excess samples appropriately. Prepare samples for shipment to other labs, following proper procedures and documentation. Assist with developing customized client reports or data entry into databases, including data collection, analysis, and transfer. Support corporate quality and continuous improvement initiatives, including specification review and testing protocol development. Identify departures from quality systems or test procedures and document observations per the complaint system. Perform other related duties, including involvement in non-food testing and method development as needed. YOUR PROFILE

Knowledge: Profile: Bachelor's degree preferred, or at least two years of experience in hospitality, retail, manufacturing, or a background in Food Science through work experience or education. Management: N/A Work Environment: Laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to fumes, chemicals, and materials. Safety equipment such as gloves, lab coat, and glasses may be required. Use of autoclave and lifting analysis materials up to 50 pounds. Extended standing is expected. WHY JOIN US?
