Senior Cost Accountant
to support our finance and operations teams by delivering actionable insights into product costing, inventory valuation, and financial performance.
Position Summary
The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing and analyzing all aspects of cost accounting, including standard cost development, inventory control, variance analysis, and cost reporting. This position requires strong attention to detail, cross-functional collaboration, and a deep understanding of cost structures in a manufacturing or production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead. Analyze cost variances and provide actionable insights to operations and leadership teams. Prepare inventory valuations, margin analysis, and cost of goods sold (COGS) reports. Support monthly and quarterly close processes related to cost accounting and inventory. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning as it relates to cost behavior. Collaborate with supply chain and production teams to monitor and improve cost efficiency. Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies related to costing and inventory. Provide support for audits and external reporting requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 4+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and GAAP. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Sage, or similar). Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze large data sets. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work 100% on-site at our Indianapolis office.
