Position Description:
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Bacteriology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This position offers a 12-month appointment, fringe benefits, a competitive start-up package, office and laboratory space, and access to state-of-the-art core facilities, instrumentation, and BSL3 and animal BSL3 space. The primary appointment will be in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Successful applicants are expected to establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program and participate in teaching activities, including bacterial genetics, physiology, or pathogenesis. We welcome applicants studying any aspect of bacteriology, such as bacterial pathogenesis, gene regulation, stress responses, cell biology, behaviors, antimicrobial resistance, or adaptation to environments, including within hosts or polymicrobial communities.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Ph.D. and/or M.D. required
Experience:
Postdoctoral experience required
Research:
Strong record of research accomplishments required
For Associate Professor level:
Established and funded research program, demonstrated mentoring and teaching ability
Preferred Qualifications Applicants studying any aspect of bacteriology, including pathogenesis, gene regulation, stress responses, cell biology, behaviors, antimicrobial resistance, or environmental adaptation.
