This position is located with the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), Education Directorate, Student Services Division, in Alexandria, VA.
This position may be eligible for situational telework as determined by the agency policy.
This position is not covered by a bargaining unit.
Overview
Help Open & closing dates 10/01/2025 to 10/15/2025 $120,579 to – $156,755 per year GS 13 1 vacancy in the following location: Alexandria, VA 25% or less – You may be expected to travel for this position. Yes—You may qualify for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with agency policy. Permanent Full-time Duties
Manage the resources to facilitate instruction and future planning. Coordinate assessments to document student performance by grade and content. Draft assessment policy, training, and guidance. Support the planning of annual budgets within Assessment Branch. Serve as a Contractor Officer’s Representative (COR) by managing assessment contracts. Implement assessments for use in DoDEA schools. Design assessment materials for assessment program. Requirements

Direct deposit of pay is required. One year probationary period may be required. Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation. Basic Requirement for Education Assessment Specialist (Special Populations): A. Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described in A above. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes serving as an above-school-level subject matter expert on assessment policies for special populations, ensuring the selection and use of appropriate and aligned alternative assessments for students with disabilities, overseeing test administration/coordination, applying policies regarding testing accommodations, analyzing disaggregated assessment data to identify achievement gaps, and providing training to educators and administrators on assessment accommodations, accessibility tools, and/or test administration protocols. FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
