You’ll play a pivotal role in helping us create the company we want to be through being fair, honest, positive, and creative. This is a hybrid role. Candidates need to live in the Chicago, Milwaukee, Reno, Nevada, or Plano, Texas areas. This Operational Accounting Senior Accountant role supports the general accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes for HDFS and its bank subsidiary, Eaglemark Savings Bank (ESB). Job Responsibilities
Leads in the completion of daily and monthly operational accounting areas of responsibility including account reconciliations and schedules, monthly analyses, and reports for month-end close and quarterly reporting. Prepares quarterly regulatory reporting and year-end financial statements, including footnote disclosures for ESB. Performs daily and monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and related tasks. Establishes best practices for creating monthly journal entries and account reconciliations. Leads ledger and sub-ledger systems testing, including executing functional and regression test plans. Provides training and support to accounting staff and leads in system maintenance. Assists with ad-hoc financial reporting requests and audits. Maintains compliance with GAAP and other regulatory agency guidance. Proactively identifies issues and proposes solutions to management. Makes judgment regarding accounting treatment of individual items. Establishes relationships with other departments and acts as contact for auditors. Ensures protection of information and compliance with laws and regulations. Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree with Concentration in Accounting required. Experience Requirements
Minimum of 4 years of related experience or 2 years public accounting experience. High level of professionalism and attention to detail. Strong analytical skills and ability to take initiative. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Preferred
