Overview
This is a Charleston, SC based position with a hybrid working model. Local (Charleston area based) employees work from home 3 days per week and on-site in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with one 4-day on-site workweek per month. Position Summary: The Accounting Manager will oversee all accounting operations, with a primary focus on month-end close, accounts payable and receivable, and pharmaceutical gross-to-net processes. This role includes managing a team of 3 accounting professionals, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with financial regulations. You’ll collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate period closes and strong financial controls. Position Responsibilities
Lead month-end close, including review of GL accounts, reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals; manage Acumatica module closures. Oversee accounts payable: invoice processing, approvals, expense reports, and Amex reconciliation. Oversee accounts receivable: ensure timely, accurate payments per contract terms. Manage pharmaceutical AR and revenue processes, including chargebacks, rebates, returns, and prompt pay. Manage pharmaceutical AP and COGS processes: distribution fees, acquisition costs, admin fees, shipping, etc. Perform monthly pharmaceutical inventory reconciliation and record adjustments. Oversee daily cash management, bank reconciliations, and line of credit compliance/reporting. Manage federal and state tax filings (e.g., tax payments, 1099s, Aggregate Spend). Support external communications with consultants, auditors, and tax preparers. Lead the annual financial audit. Participate in cross-functional operational meetings. Recruit, train, and develop accounting staff. Maintain internal controls and policies to mitigate financial risk. Competencies | Skills and Knowledge
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations. Proven leadership and team management experience. Analytical, detail-oriented, and results-driven. Adaptable and collaborative in a fast-paced environment. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel; Acumatica experience a plus. Pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus. Education and Experience | Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a Bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in accounting, is required Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred Two to five years of accounting management experience. Travel Requirements
