Overview
The Accounting Manager position is a full-time, exempt role responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations for the Kenan Center. This includes payroll, accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, and financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and external financial consultants to ensure accurate and compliant financial management across the organization.
Hours Hours generally follow a Monday–Friday schedule, with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend work during key events or fiscal deadlines.
Benefits and pay range
Pay commensurate with experience; anticipated range $63,000-66,000 annually – exempt

Responsibilities and Duties
Manage all accounting functions using QuickBooks, including deposits, bill entry, payments, and credit card reconciliation.
Process bi-weekly payroll through ADP Workforce Now and record payroll activity in QuickBooks, as well as oversee employee benefits.
Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including bank reconciliations, prepaid and deferred accounts, accrued expenses, and investment tracking.
Generate monthly invoices for facility and arena rentals, classes, and programs.
Oversee quarterly and annual reporting, including sales tax filings, 1099s, and W-2 distribution.
Coordinate annual audit and tax filings (990 and CHAR 500) in collaboration with external accountants.
Maintain accurate records for insurance, retirement contributions, and unemployment filings.
Prepare financial reports for monthly Finance Committee meetings and assist with annual budget development.
Support grant writing and fundraising efforts by providing accurate financial data and analysis.
Consistently follow Kenan Center’s financial policies and procedures.
Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and ADP payroll systems.
Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and reporting requirements.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a small, collaborative team.
