Mission of Role The Senior Health and Safety Manager manages the overall Health & Safety Programs. The Health & Safety team develops, implements, and administers comprehensive health and safety services, policies, and procedures at the JBBDCo campus (including Clermont, Boston, FBN, AOP and GIC).
Role Responsibilities
This is a key leadership role providing the platform to influence the Health and Safety culture desired.
Provides management team with guidance on health and safety matters and confirms compliance with all industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
Ensure compliance with plans and programs, routine operations, documentation, and reporting for company standards and governmental regulations for Safety, IH, Fire Systems, and Worker’s Compensation.
Manage the process to ensure that strategies are developed, implemented, executed, and managed to prevent workplace injuries.
Ensure all Health & Safety activities such as training/auditing/assessing to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory agency requirements are completed timely and accurately.
Assure all risk assessments are complete, and the implementation of effective physical and/or behavioral control measures are complete. Recognize and verify the effectiveness of in-place control measures.
Execute a plan to identify unsafe equipment operation and conditions while demonstrating knowledge of appropriate corrective action for unsafe conditions or equipment use.
Ensure root cause analyses are completed and corrective action plans are developed to address root basic causes and management system weak spots using industry-recognized cause analysis techniques.
Coach leaders at all levels within the organization and use strong influencing skills around Health & Safety goals/values to ensure a strong Health & Safety culture that supports business productivity targets.
Identify issues, coach, and lead field locations in the development of a corrective action plan to address root basic causes and management system weak spots through the use of industry-recognized cause analysis techniques (e.g. 5-Why).
Lead and manage three direct reports in daily activities, as well as helping develop their skills professionally. (Health & Safety Manager Booker Noe, Safety Supervisor Booker Noe, and Safety Supervisor Clermont)
Ensure completion of routine audits, maintenance of the Compliant Pro database, and ensure Health & Safety management is properly executed and conforms to ISO 45001.
Maintain working knowledge of all OSHA, DOT, and relevant Health & Safety regulations at both federal and state levels.
Work closely with BEST safety teams and demonstrate strong employee engagement skills to drive a behavior-based safety culture.
Support all other Health & Safety Operations as assigned.
Manage the ERT team at both Booker Noe and Clermont.
Qualifications
Minimum of seven to ten years of Health and Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum five to seven years of supervisory experience.
Bachelor’s degree in health & safety or a related field
Master’s degree in health & safety or a related field preferred
Demonstrate solid employee relations experience, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills.
Previous experience in the food, beverage, or spirits industry is preferred.
Previous experience in emergency response.
Display strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
Demonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader by influencing all levels of the organization to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
Working knowledge of fire pumps, fire alarms, and wet and dry sprinkler systems
Thorough knowledge of Federal and State safety, OSHA, and DOT
ISO 45001 and ISO 18001 Internal Auditor and/or Lead Auditor Training desired.
Familiarity with process pumps, valves, and motors, etc. is required.
Must have good general mobility, and be able to climb stairs, walk up to 100 yards, and stoop.
Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication as well as presentation skills with the ability to communicate to all levels within the organization.
This is an on-site, day-shift position, Monday - Friday. Other work hours may be required in emergency situations.
Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, with experience in SAP preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license. Travel could be up to 20% of the time.
