With continued growth and exciting expansion ahead, we're seeking a highly skilled Assistant Controller to help drive the team's next chapter of success. Job Summary The Assistant Controller will play a key leadership role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage and union regulations, and delivering timely, accurate financial reporting. This individual will manage a small accounting team and work closely with the Controller to support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements. This is a hands-on role within a dynamic, growth-oriented organization dedicated to safety, innovation, and financial excellence. Key Responsibilities Lead all aspects of general ledger posting, month-end close, and preparation of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows). Manage certified payroll reporting, including DIR and LCP Tracker submissions, ensuring prevailing wage and union contract (CBA) compliance. Supervise and mentor accounting staff across A/P, A/R, payroll, and related functions. Support the Controller with budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, and internal financial analysis. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory standards. Drive process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Required Qualifications 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger posting, month-end close, and full financial statement preparation and analysis. 5+ years of payroll experience, including prevailing wage, public works, certified payroll reporting (DIR, LCP Tracker), and union contracts (CBA's). Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required). 5+ years of experience managing accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, and payroll. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Construction industry experience strongly preferred.
