This position is for a Control Systems Engineer who will prepare design drawings for construction, supporting calculations, and equipment/commodity specifications for control systems associated with the DOD Sentinel project sites. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This position is located in Ogden, Utah. Major Responsibilities
This role will support design development of systems and equipment for the Sentinel program project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. This role will mainly support control system interface designs for security, diesel fuel transfer, HVAC control, gas monitoring of hazardous locations, and whole building monitoring systems (including monitoring of HVAC, lighting, and other utilities). Additional responsibilities include (but not limited to): Provides technical assistance to other Control Systems personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex issues Reviews and checks design deliverables for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality and satisfactory completion Ensures control systems designs comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and standards such as ISA 5.1 Design systems to monitor health and status alarms of multiple independent facility control/process systems and utilities (HVAC, lighting, power, etc.) Review of and input to P&IDs to include selection of components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability Support the modeling of instrumentation in the 3D model and preparation of instrument location drawings Preparation of logic diagrams, functional block diagrams, instrument data sheets, etc. using AutoCAD to implement custom controls for equipment based on customer requirements Prepare instrument index and I/O list using automated tools, vendor inputs and Bechtel inputs as applicable Develop equipment and material specifications utilizing the DOD software Specsintact Develop additional procurement documentation including written scopes of work Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design solution Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product Provide assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Control Systems requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution Review client requirements and incorporate them into a design product Coordinate the reviews of deliverables between the client as well as other engineering disciplines/functions. Review and resolve comments/feedback on the deliverables Prepare or oversee the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and support implementation and assists with performance reporting Coordinate with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of control systems aspects of the work Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution with 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge and Skills
US citizenship is required per contract requirement Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance Relevant experience includes drawings, calculations, and specifications for systems and equipment on DoD, nuclear, or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building systems Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) Experience with Microsoft Office programs (including Visio) and other common computer programs Extensive knowledge and application of Codes and Standards Broad knowledge of the application of Control Systems engineering design principles Strong understanding of engineering drawings, data sheets and selection of instruments based on system application requirements Engineer in Training Certificate Registered Professional Engineer in USA Experience with quality assurance procedures such as ISO-9000 Experience executing engineering design with AutoCAD Understanding of Mechanical and Process Engineering discipline drawings and system calculations as related to Control System design requirements Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and Guide Specifications from the Whole Building Design Guide Total Rewards/Benefits
