University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Department of Anesthesiology, invites applications for a full-time Anesthesiologist at the faculty rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice. The department aims to assure the best possible outcomes for patients undergoing surgical operations, painful invasive procedures, and childbirth. The anesthesiologist provides specialized care to patients undergoing surgical procedures at University of Colorado School of Medicine–affiliated hospitals, with attending physicians available to supervise trainees as needed. Key Responsibilities
The attending anesthesiologist administers care alone or supervises residents, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and certified anesthesiologist assistants. When working alone, examines the patient before and after anesthesia, writes pre- and post-anesthesia orders, confirms readiness for anesthesia before induction, manages the anesthetic period, and follows the patient through the post-anesthesia period as appropriate. May perform services in the operating room, labor and delivery area, radiology, and outpatient procedure center; anesthesia administration is limited to areas where it can be delivered safely, with supervision available from one or more attendings at all times. Clinical duties may be assigned at University of Colorado Hospital affiliates and other CU School of Medicine–affiliated hospitals. Work Location

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. All attending anesthesiologists must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado. All are expected to be either in the examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiology ("board eligible") or a Diplomat of the Board, or to hold certification of foreign training recognized as equivalent to its diploma by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Applicants must be fellowship-trained or have significant post-residency experience (5+ years).
