Overview
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Penn State, University Park campus, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The search is open to any area of eukaryotic gene regulation and to be a part of the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences. The department values interdisciplinarity and is open to the possibility of joint hires with allied departments such as Chemistry and Biology. We remain flexible in our direction forward and encourage excellent candidates in all areas of eukaryotic gene regulation to apply. The anticipated starting date for this appointment is summer or fall of 2026 or spring of 2027.
Responsibilities
Engage in a productive, externally funded research program in any area of eukaryotic gene regulation.
Contribute to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and supervise student research.
Provide mentorship and service to the department, college, university, and broader professional community.
Develop collaborative and interdisciplinary relationships, with potential joint appointments with allied departments.
Qualifications
For Assistant Professor: Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, systems biology or a related field; potential for developing an externally funded, collaborative research program; and potential for teaching and service contributions.
For Associate Professor: A strong track record of scholarly achievement, external funding, and demonstrated success in teaching and service, in addition to the qualifications expected for an Assistant Professor.
For Full Professor: A distinguished record of research publications, funding, teaching, and service at national or international levels, in addition to the qualifications of the Associate Professor.

Overview of goals/vision of your research program in context of our department and institution
Your most significant scientific accomplishments
A summary of experiences and qualifications that position you to achieve your goals
Curriculum vitae including a list of publications.
Two statements addressing:
Research accomplishments, plans, and vision (up to 4 pages, including figures and references).
Teaching experience, philosophy, and/or interests (1 page).

Timeline and contact Competitive applicants for the rank of Assistant Professor will possess a Ph.D. before beginning employment and demonstrate potential for developing an externally funded and collaborative research program, along with teaching and service potential. Candidates for Associate Professor should have the same qualifications plus a strong track record of scholarly achievement and external funding. Candidates for Full Professor should have the same qualifications as the Associate Professor and a distinguished record of research, funding, teaching, and service.
