The Hardlines Sales Manager position is responsible for the overall management and execution of operational excellence for the entire store, with focus on supervision and management of team members in Hardlines Sales (which include Camping, Fishing & Hunting, Outdoor, Firearms, and Team Sports). It directs and coordinates activities through subordinate team leads and other team members. It is a leadership position and is expected to drive the overall performance of the store through effective supervision, communication and coordination of the team members. Through this work, the Hardlines Sales Manager leads the team and drives the goals that directly impact customer satisfaction, store profitability, and Academy’s Purpose. Education

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Work Experiences

At least three years of relevant work experience required. Demonstrated success in leading overall departments of up to 40 people to drive operational excellence and sales targets. Skills

Exceptional supervisory and management skills; ability to coach department members on store policies, protocols and expectations; leads by example and drives performance. Excellent customer service orientation. Effective problem solving and communication with customers and team members. Strong business acumen with understanding of business implications of decisions, knowledge of market and competition and an orientation to profitability and targets. Reads, analyzes and interprets general business materials, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Clear and persuasive communication; active listening to team members, customers, partners and the public. Writes reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; presents information effectively and responds to questions. Uses common sense and sound judgment to make timely decisions. Working knowledge of inventory software, order processing systems, payroll systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Proficient in basic mathematical computations and following written or oral instructions. Key Responsibilities

Full-time position averaging 45-50 hours/week. Overall management responsibility for the execution and operational excellence of the entire store. Management responsibility for Hardlines Sales, including involvement in personnel decisions (hiring, training, discipline, termination, development). Provide departmental direction and daily supervision to Team Leads and staff to ensure exceptional customer service. Develop and implement strategy to achieve weekly and monthly goals, including sales, staffing, training, payroll hours and scheduling. Manage workforce productivity, efficiency, and process improvement projects. Ensure compliance with sales, safety, and security practices and procedures per regulations. Ensure departmental zoning and adherence to store and company standards. Supervise execution of assignments delegated by Store Director. Participate in floor walks with leadership to implement improvements based on feedback. Audit firearm sales in compliance with federal and state law; complete ATF Form 4473 and approve as final. Complete Firearms Sales Certification training and Power Industrial Truck Certification training. Participate in Academy Leadership University. Provide supervisory oversight of talent lifecycle including hiring, onboarding, development and coaching. Learn, understand and enforce company policies, procedures and safety rules. Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules for management-level employees. Duties may change and the role may perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements & Attendance

Regularly able to talk or hear; often required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and reach with arms. Occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds and frequently up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
