Overview
Coordinator II, Donation at BioTissue. This role is responsible for the efficient management, screening, and assessment for donor eligibility following BioTissue exclusionary criteria, AATB standards, and FDA regulations. It includes managing daily donor volume, screening donors from exclusive partnerships, evaluating medical and shipment records, and assigning unique identifiers. The role may require escalation to the administrator on call (AOC) services, including after hours and weekends. The position involves obtaining legal/informed donor consent and conducting the Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI), as well as initial review of the donor’s medical records to screen for risk factors and exclusionary criteria.
Responsibilities
Facilitate the acquisition of birth tissue through relationships with exclusive strategic partners by responding to screening requests, assessing initial eligibility prior to acquisition, reviewing relevant records, assigning a Sharing Miracles unique identifier, and completing the Birth Mother Screening Form.
Contact potential birth tissue donors and lead discussions to provide support, answer questions, and obtain legal/informed consent in accordance with FDA regulations and AATB standards. Document information in BioTissue’s electronic donor management system; ensure phone consents are recorded appropriately for audits.
Obtain, document, and evaluate the donor’s medical and social history (DRAI) of the birth mother and facilitate the recovery process in compliance with FDA and AATB standards and BioTissue policies. Complete the electronic donor record accurately, with thorough documentation and follow-up as needed.
Access, coordinate, collect, and review patient medical record information as part of donor screening to determine eligibility prior to tissue acquisition. Review Acquisition records and Lab Requisitions for completeness and accuracy and identify areas of concern.
Review new information post-acquisition and forward the completed chart to the Medical Director to determine final donor eligibility and resolve any issues.
Support potential and actual birth tissue donors by providing details about the acquisition process, benefits of donation, follow-up or outcomes information, and maintain a positive donation experience.
Maintain departmental quality guidelines with timely clearance of donor charts/corrections to maximize transplantation opportunities and provide customer services internally and externally.
Route necessary corrections or requests for additional information to exclusive strategic partners to assess final donor eligibility.
Assist with training and precepting of new Intake/Donation Coordinators I, assessing competency and mentorship in donor screening, medical suitability, and use of the electronic donor management system.
Perform administrative duties in the GMP environment (filing, copying, scanning, shredding, archiving) as needed.
Assist with documentation and investigation of Non-conformances and Corrective/Preventive Actions related to Consent, Donor Screening, and Acquisition processes as requested.

Position Expertise/Qualifications
Associates degree in Life Science or equivalent experience required.
Certified Tissue Banking Specialist preferred (must be obtained within 18 months of employment).
3 years of experience in GMP or hospital setting; or equivalent education/experience.
3 years of experience in Tissue Banking (donor coordination, call center, recovery, processing) required.
1 year of experience in precepting and competency assessments required.
