John Derby Evans Professorship in Information (Assistant or Associate Professor) Job summary: The University of Michigan School of Information (UMSI) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position focusing on technology and society. The successful candidate will be appointed to the John Derby Evans Professorship in Information at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Responsibilities

Conduct scholarly research resulting in publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, edited volumes, books, and conference proceedings.

Seek external funding to support their research program.

Teach in UMSI's five academic programs.

Mentor students for independent studies, master’s projects and theses, and doctoral dissertations.

Provide service to the school, university, and the broader academic community through committee work, journal editing, community engagement, and other opportunities.

Each contributing member of the UMSI faculty will have a teaching effort equivalent to three semester-long courses per year.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in an area such as social or behavioral sciences, design, communication, computer science, information, media or humanities studies.

A strong interest in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.

A strong commitment to interdisciplinary research.

Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated ability for exemplary teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.

Demonstrated scholarly impact in research.

Modes of Work Positions are eligible for hybrid or remote work at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually and may change at any time.
