The UTRGV School of Medicine seeks faculty members at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor for teaching Pathology. Experience teaching in an LCME accredited medical school is preferred. Their background should be in the discipline of Cell Biology and/or Pathology. The chosen individuals will assist in implementing a vertically and horizontally integrated curriculum utilizing active, team-based and problem based learning, flipped classroom and self-directed study.

The UTRGV School of Medicine offers an exceptionally innovative learning experience designed to instill students with scientific, clinical and research expertise of the highest professional standards. Experienced, qualified faculty in the biomedical, behavioral and clinical sciences challenge students to stretch and grow. In addition, teaching faculty who are practicing physicians in the Valley community participate in the educational process as both part-time and volunteer faculty.

The SOM is characterized by a competency-based curriculum that utilizes the most technologically advanced resources – including an interactive, personalized learning platform; a 15,000-square-foot Smart Hospital complex; and a virtual anatomy and histology laboratory. All of this comes together within a program ethos that prioritizes improving the health of individuals and the community as a whole. We will graduate outstanding physicians able to coordinate the entire care of the patient, patient advocates focused on the overall community – culturally aware collaborative leaders, life-long learners and problem solvers.

Minimum Qualifications

Terminal degree (Ph.D. or M.D.) or equivalent with postdoctoral experience in the area of expertise.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may

require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is

performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive

and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code

51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of

Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least

135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement

Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week

and at least 135 days in length.
