ELECTRONIC TRAFFIC SIGNAL TECHNICIAN - HIGHWAYS (ISLAND OF KAUAI) Department: Department of Transportation - Highways, State of Hawaiʻi. Immediate vacancy located at the Kauai District Office. This recruitment may close at any time after receiving 25 applications. Duties Summary

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Engineer, this position is responsible for maintaining the traffic signal system on Kauai; repairs all existing traffic signal equipment; assembles, tests, adjusts, installs and modifies electronic equipment; inspects traffic signals; maintains traffic signal inventory; maintains highway lighting inventory and inspects highway lighting facilities. Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: General Experience:

Two (2) years of work experience which demonstrates knowledge of electricity and electronic principles and theories; tools, instruments and materials used in electrical and electronic work; electrical and electronic work hazards and safety practices; ability to use electronic and electrical test instruments to test and replace faulty electronic modules; and read and interpret plans, blueprints, manufacturer\'s specifications, and diagrams of electrical/electronic circuits and prepare reports. Specialized Experience:

One (1) year of work experience which demonstrates knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and theories as they apply to the repair of minicomputers and electronic components such as oscillating, multivibrator, pulse, memory and integrated circuits; ability to read, understand, and prepare plans and schematic diagrams of applicable electrical and electronic circuits and test and repair or test and construct printed circuit assemblies. Licenses/Certifications:

A valid State of Hawaii Journey Worker Electrician's License is required at time of application. Hawaii does not have reciprocity agreements with other jurisdictions. Information about obtaining a State of Hawaii Electrician License is available from the State Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs. Driver License:

A valid license to drive in the State of Hawaii is required at the time of appointment. Lifting Requirement:

Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs unassisted and 125 lbs assisted. Substitutions:
