What To Expect Optimus Technicians within the Humanoid AI Robot team work side by side with Engineers to support and sustain the research and development of our prototype robots and sub-systems. You’ll be building/repairing the first iterations of the machines that make the machines, including highly actuated and electronically/computationally dense robots.

You will have a blend of hands-on builds and responsibilities around analysis, testing, and documentation. Projects are open-ended and often with limited upfront guidance. The successful candidate for this position must have a broad background in Mechatronics, Industrial, and/or Automotive, Precision Medical Devices, Maintenance, and Testing. Must be a self-starter and work efficiently both independently and in team environments.

What You'll Do

Work with Engineers to fabricate, assemble, and integrate mobile robot prototypes, including mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, wire harnesses, etc.

Develop test plans and test systems, including building of assembly jigs and test/validation systems

Collaborate with Engineering teams to root cause and resolve mechanical and electrical issues

Provide detailed written & verbal test status updates to key stakeholders. Conduct daily bot inspections and shift pass-down reports

Maintain a clean and organized lab, ensuring it is well-stocked with tools, components, and materials needed for robot support

Support bench-top electrical system builds and testing, including procurement and tracking

Support low volume prototype part builds and testing, including developing SOPs, training modules, and repairs for serviceability

What You'll Bring

3+ years of experience as an Engineering Technician in Robotics, Automotive Service, Medical Devices, R&D, or Manufacturing

Hands-on experience with hand and power tools, high & low voltage systems, wire harness assembly and repair, mechanical components, electro-mechanical devices, soldering, wire crimping, DMM multimeters, oscilloscopes

Ability to interpret drawings and 3D CAD models, read schematics, and create harnesses from scratch. Experience with CAD (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks), electrical design (e.g., Altium), fabrication, 3D printing, laser cutting is preferred but not required. Proficiency with spreadsheet tools and JIRA; Python knowledge is a plus.

Ability to create work instructions and SOPs for service repair, installation, and testing

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with experience in root cause analysis and detailed lab reporting

Physical ability to lift 37 lbs., climb ladders, and work in 24/7 shifts

Willingness to travel up to 10% within the Bay Area; valid driver’s license required

Compensation Expected hourly pay: $24.40 - $50.40 + stock awards and benefits. Compensation varies based on experience, location, and other factors. Details provided upon offer.
