Overview Addictions Counselor - Grace Medical Center - A.C.T.

Grace Medical Center, A.C.T. program, Full-time Day shift (8:30am–5:00pm), Allied Health, ZIP 90856. Compensation $24.38–$36.57 per hour, experience based. Posted July 30, 2025.

Responsibilities

Conduct individual substance abuse counseling and group counseling (manual-based) for severely mentally ill consumers in a community-based center and at the consumer’s residence.

Establish rapport with consumers, implement clinical interventions, conduct community-based substance abuse assessments, and engage in crisis management.

Educate patients about drug abuse, HIV risk prevention, and other substance abuse/recovery issues, including dual diagnosis considerations.

Participate in treatment plan development aligned to client needs.

Prepare reports and maintain records for assigned caseload, including progress notes, treatment plans, monthly summaries, and psycho-socials.

Participate in crisis management and crisis intervention as needed.

Qualifications

Requires knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts obtained through a BA or BS in psychology or related behavioral health field from an accredited college or university.

Bachelor's Degree in Human Services major is required.

CSC-AD or CAC-AD Certification preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.

Ability to operate a computer and applications such as Windows and Excel.

Valid MD Driver's License with fewer than 2 points and ability to be cleared by Fleet Safety to operate organizational vehicles.
